Our Hockey Initiation Program (HIP, also known as Learn To Play) helps young skaters start on their way to a life of hockey. 

Prior to entering the Hockey Initiation Program, we strongly recommend that each student completes either Basic 3 or Pre-Hockey 2 from our Group Lessons program, or display equivalent skills. This will ensure that each student gets as much as possible from the program; a skater who with little or no on-ice experience will have trouble keeping up with the instruction.

All players 5-9 years old doing their first hockey class should register through the Capitals Learn to Play Program.  If this is your second class regardless of age, or first hockey class and 10+ years old, register through Rockville Ice Arena at links at top and bottom of this page.

Equipment can be picked up at our proshop at Rockville Ice Arena Monday, Wednesday and Fridays between 4-7pm
