Registration Fee: $165.00 (plus 10% City of RockvilleTax)

  • 7 - 60 Minute Lessons
  • 7 - Practice Sessions
  • Hockey Equipment and Jersey (while supplies last)
  • Skate Rental (For lessons and practice)

Level 1 -
Equipment Provided: Hockey Helmet/Cage, Gloves, Elbow Pads and Stick
Requirements: Ages 13 and younger, Skill level and/or completion of Basic 3 of the Basic Skills Program

Level 2 -
Equipment Provided: Shin Pads, Shoulder Pads and Pants
Requirements: Completion of the Hockey Initiation Program Level 1


Player Keeps Equipment upon completion of each session!!

Summer Sports Camp 2010

We are dedicated to providing a safe and fun atmosphere for children between the ages of 6 to 13. Activities include a variety of ice sports and instruction for skating, hockey, broomball and other ice sports, along with outdoor games and daily visits to the Rockville SportsPlex for indoor sports including soccer, basketball, kickball, dodgeball, handball, etc.


This camp runs weekly from June 21 through August 27.
Cost: $330 per week (Meals Included)

Our Staff

Rockville Ice Arena offers a camper to Counselor ratio of not more than 10-1. All staff members will have the necessary background checks from the F.B.I and City of Rockville Police Department. Key staff members are certified in CPR and First Aid Training and are experienced college athletes in the various sports. Our team will focus on offering a safe and fun environment for your child, while enhancing their development on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship and inter-personal skills.

Note: All meals will be provided by the Village Grille (included in the cost of the camp), located in Rockville Ice Arena. We will be pleased to offer specific meal plans to those with special dietary needs.

Summer 2010 Camps and Clinics

The following is a list of the various Camps and Clinics that we will be presenting throughout the summer at the Rockville Ice Arena. Our camps offer a variety of options and services that are geared toward a safe and enjoyable experience for the participant. Our mandate is to provide only top quality instruction and care for our clients and restrict the usage of our facility to camps we are familiar with and adhere to our mandate. Rockville Ice Arena Summer Day Camp- June 21 to Aug.27

A weekly program for children ages 5 to 13 that offers a variety of sports including hockey, skating, broomball, soccer, kickball, etc. Full day camp with nutritious meals and snacks included. Learn to Skate Group Lessons- July 10 to Aug. 21

This seven week program offers skating instruction from Beginners to Adults. Participants receive a 30 minute lesson weekly along with a pass for 7 public skating sessions. Weather the skater is a future hockey player or figure skater this program is necessary for those who want to play or skate at a higher level.

Hockey Initiation Program- July 10 to Aug.21

Sponsored by the Washington Capital this program has become extremely popular for those who want to graduate to Montgomery Youth Hockey Association. Players must be able to skate at a Basic 2 level (proper balance, forward/backwards skating, etc.) in order to participate. This is a 2 –tiered program with a player receiving helmets/cage, shin pads and gloves in the first session and shoulder pads, elbow pads and pants in the second session that they keep once class is completed.

Sports International Hockey Academy- Various Weeks

After a successful program in 2009, SIHA are once again returning to RIA for 3 weeks this summer. The first week (June 28 to Aug. 2) and third week (Aug. 16 – 20) are SOLD OUT, however there is still room in the camp during the week of Aug. 9 to 13. Their website is www.siha.com for more details.

Instructional Development Clinic

Nothing But Net Hockey Camp- Various Weeks

Coach Keegan has expanded his camp this year and will be offering 3 separate weeks of instruction ( July 19 -23, July 26 – 30 with meal plans included both weeks) and his annual Summer Pre-Season Skills Camp on Aug. 23 – 28. Turcotte Stickhandling School- July 5-9

Returning for their 11th season Turcotte offers a program to develop stickhandling and individual skill for all players. This is a half-day camp for various age groups. Top Gun Hockey – July 12-16

This is a full day camp with meal plans included. Instructors include Ted Dent (Assistant Coach- Chicago Blackhawks) and former Ohio State standout Paul Tilley. Marianne Watkins ProPower Skating Clinic- Sept. 3,4 and 5

Taking place over Labor Day Weekend and just prior to the start of the 2010/2011 season, this camp specialized in all aspects of skating development including technique,flexibility,edge/body control, foot speed, efficiency, etc. An ideal camp for those who have been off the ice all summer to prepare for the upcoming season. (note: this is not a learn to skate program). Classes are offered for those skaters from Mite to Adults, this program is limited to 30 skaters and groups sold out last year.
